Budding/Grafting Roses onto Rootstock

Learn to graft roses onto root stock for stronger and healthier plants.  Talk given by rose hybridizer, Burling Leong of Burlington Roses.  Burling started the Burlington Rose Nursery in 2008, which is a retail and wholesale grower of roses.  Her program will consist of a PowerPoint step-by-step presentation on chip budding (grafting) standard (tree) roses or other rose shrubs, with a demonstration on live plants.  She will also show photos of all the roses varieties that are planted at the Hearst Castle, which she was involved with restoring.

In honor of the 150th Anniversary of Golden Gate Park, please join us for a special talk given by rosarian, author and historian, Darrell Schramm.  "It Was a Golden Time for Roses," recounting the many different roses imported to and grown in San Francisco during the last quarter of the 19th Century.
